Walking back from the library today, I heard a voice calling out to me as I passed. "I love your outrageous hair!"
Today is Andy's birthday. When we first met, I was amazed to hear that he'd never worked on his birthday, in all the time that he'd been working. To me, this was just inconceivable. I was so wrapped up in my workaholic lifestyle that the idea of taking the day off to celebrate one's birthday was literally incomprehensible. I'm rather glad that I've destressed sufficiently to appreciate the sentiment behind this sort of thing. Birthdays are special, and it is good and right to take a break from the everyday routine to celebrate them.
Today we rose late, lazed around, had breakfast at Trams, loafed around the shops a bit and then went for a walk on the Gower, near Llanmadoc. The walk, suggested in a leaflet published by Swansea Council, wasn't very strenuous or challenging at all, but taking a look at the OS map later, Andy has come up with a route that seems like it will be both strenuous and challenging. The weather was perfect; warm and sunny but not too hot. We capped the day with a meal at the Newton Inn and now he's off drumming with Shiko; we'll meet afterwards at the Vic to continue the celebrations. Wish I'd remembered this when I scheduled loads of meetings in Cardiff for tomorrow, starting at 9:30 and continuing through until 6pm!
